Focusing screens for FM/FE-series and FA cameras

Focusing screens for FM/FE-series and FA cameras

The focusing screens for the FM2, FM2N, FM3A, FE, FE2, and FA cameras are interchangable, but because the type K2 and K3 screens are slightly brighter than the older type K, exposure compensation is necessary to maintain accurate metering when using a K2 or K3 screen in an FE or the original FM2 (x200 sync).

The K and K2 screens are similar but the K2 provides a brighter viewfinder image. The matte portion of the K3 screen that comes standard with the FM3A is much smoother than the K and K2 screens, resulting in a much less "grainy" viewfinder image when using slow lenses or the depth-of-field preview function.

The B, B2, and B3 screens have the same general characteristics of their K-type counterparts but do not have the split-image/microprism focusing aids. The E, E2, and E3 screens also lack the focusing aids but provide a reference grid that is useful for architectural photography, keeping horizons level, etc.
