Troubleshooting

The camera is connected but not detected by NX Tether?

  • NX Tether can only detect and work with compatible cameras listed above.
  • Are the camera and computer connected properly?
    • Turn the camera off and reconnect the USB cable to the computer directly, avoid connecting thru a USB hub.
  • Are you also using another software designed to control or download pictures tethered/connected to the computer (Such as Camera Control Pro 2, Nikon Transfer 2 and et)?
    • If yes, quit NX Tether and any other tethering software then restart NX Tether.
    • If not, Click [Disconnect] to end the connection between the camera and NX Tether and then reselect the camera using [Connected Camera].

The camera is disconnecting randomly, or data transfering speed is slow.

  • Try connecting with another USB Cable.
  • Try swapping the USB ports from the computer.
  • Try disabling [USB power delivery] from camera setup menu, especially on a long USB cable for camera supporting USB-PD.

How can I connect my camera wirelessly to NX Tether?

  • NX Tether can be connected wirelessly for selected cameras listed above.
  • In general, you will need to connect using a host profile configured for [Camera control].
    • Do note that, the wireless connection can not work simultaneously with other network profile. Only one profile can be active at a time.

Can I use Live View from NX Tether?

  • NX Tether does not support Live View showing in software, please consider using Camera Control Pro 2 instead.

Can't take pictures?

  • Check if a memory card with sufficient storage is inserted in the camera when [Computer + Card] or [Card] is selected as the destination.
  • Check if NX Tether has access permission for the destination folder, this is usually controlled by OS.

Can't change or adjust settings?

  • When [Enable Controls on Camera Body] is enabled in the [Camera] menu, some settings can only be adjusted using the controls on the camera body.
  • Some settings may not be available depending on the option selected for [Exposure Mode].

Powering the camera for continuous usage.

  • USB power delivery (PD) is supported with selected model including the Z 9, Z 8, Z6III, Z 30,Z f, Z fc, Z 5, Z 6II and Z 7II models. Note that this will require a USB-PD compatible cable and the USB port designated for power supply.
  • Power connectors and AC adapters can be used to power some camera models for extended periods. The list of compatible accessories can be found here.
