How do I configure the SK-6 / SK-6A?

The Nikon SK-6 and SK-6A are Power Brackets which enable you to use your SB-900, SB-800, SB-80DX, SB-28DX, SB-28, SB-26, SB-25, SB-24 or SB-22 Speedlight as a grip-type flash.

NOTE:  Use of an SK-6 with the SB-900, SB-800, SB-80DX or SB-28DX requires a special plug modification that may be performed at Nikon Service facilities. SK-6A models already have the plug modification.

By mounting your camera and Speedlight and connecting them by cord, you can reduce harsh shadows in vertical-frame shooting.

Used as an external power source, in combination with the Speedlight's own power source, the SK-6 or SK-6A reduces minimum recycling time by about half and doubles the total number of flashes available. It accepts four 1.5V LR6 (AA-size alkaline), 1.2V KR-AA (R6/AA-size NiCd) or 1.5V FR6 (AA-size lithium) batteries.

If your Speedlight is already powered by the Nikon DC Unit SD-7 or SD-8/SD-8A, the SK-6 or SK-6A can be used as a secondary external power source.
