Approved SD cards - D40X

Nikon has tested the following SD memory cards and approved their use in the D40X DSLR cameras:

SanDisk64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB*1, 4GB*1,2
Toshiba64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB*1, 4GB*1,2
Panasonic64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB*1, 4GB*1,2
Lexar Media 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB (Platinum II/Professional), 2GB*1 (Platinum II/Professional)

*1 If the memory card will be used with a card reader or other device, the device must support 2GB SD memory cards.
*2 SDHC-compliant

If the memory card will be used with a card reader or other device, be sure that the device supports SDHC.

Other brands and capacities of cards may work, but Nikon cannot guarantee their operation. Check with the manufacturer of the third-party card for compatibility information. Nikon recommends keeping one of the approved cards available for troubleshooting.
