START HERE - Wireless Setup Information for COOLPIX

This guide will assist you with setting up the Wireless Image Transfer system for the Nikon COOLPIX.

Items required:

  • Nikon COOLPIX P series (P1, P2 or P3) or S series (S6 or S7c)
  • Fully charged battery for the camera
  • A computer with wireless LAN capabilities (for Ad-hoc) or a computer on a wired or wireless LAN (Infrastructure)
  • Computer running a pre-installed version of Mac OS 10.3 or Windows XP
  • Logged into an Account with Administrator rights
  • Picture Project 1.6 Installation CD-ROM
  • Manuals for the above-mentioned equipment

Setting up the wireless COOLPIX cameras is an easy operation that takes just a few steps. However, a basic familiarity with networking technology and terminology will help. For more information on the wireless terminology used, please  Click Here for the glossary.

PictureProject 1.6 automatically installs the Wireless Utility for use with the COOLPIX.

After installing the software follow the steps below: 

Step 1: Configure Network - here we will configure the computer to create a network (Ad-hoc) or join an existing network (Infrastructure). If you already have a computer on a wireless network you can skip this step.

Step 2: Configure Camera - Use the Nikon Wireless Camera Setup Utility to create a profile for the camera. 

Step 3: Use Wireless camera - Explore the different modes of wireless image transfer.
