The rechargeable battery used in some COOLPIX cameras can be charged while it is inserted in the camera. The power to charge the battery is supplied from a PC via USB lead or from a battery charger. When the battery is inserted in the camera and is being charged, check the small green charge lamp on the camera (indicated with a charge/flash symbol).
-
Flashing on /off - indicates the battery is charging, there is no problem.
-
Constantly on - indicates the battery is fully charged, there is no problem.
-
Completely off - indicates the battery is not charging.
Try the following troubleshooting steps:
-
Ensure you are using an authentic Nikon battery.
-
Check that power is being provided from the PC or mains power supply.
-
Check the USB cable is inserted correctly at both ends by removing and re-attaching it.
-
Check that 'On' is selected in the camera Setup menu > Charge by computer.
-
Remove the memory card from the camera and then charge the battery again before re-inserting the memory card.
-
Try using a spare battery or USB lead to try to isolate the problem.
