Nikon CX format image sensor system

CX format is an image sensor system that was designed by Nikon from the ground up and is incorporated into the Nikon 1 series of cameras. Nikon 1 cameras are also referred to as Advanced Camera with Interchangeable Lens (A-CIL). This format allows for the design of cameras and lenses with portability in mind but at the same time producing professional-quality still images and movies.

Nikon CX format super high-speed AF CMOS imaging sensor. The sensor size is 13.2mm x 8.8mm which is also referred to as a 1" sensor.

Nikon 1 cameras use high performance interchangeable 1 NIKKOR lenses which deliver outstanding precision, resolution and contrast. The effective angle of view of the Nikon 1 cameras is 2.7x that of an equivalent 35mm format. To calculate the angle of view in 35mm format terms, multiply the focal length of the 1 NIKKOR lens by 2.7x.
( i.e. a 10-30mm 1 NIKKOR zoom lens would be a 27-81mm zoom lens in 35mm format terms).

Nikon 1 series cameras are compatible with a limited range of NIKKOR F-mount lenses when used with an FT-1 adapter, some restrictions apply.
